ANECDOTS FROM SUMMER SCHOOL

Inside the house (see post below) we had our rooms, just besides the entrance door was this cabinet. It apparently belonged to a teacher "Madame Pierrot" ! It was were she kept her "bricolage" which means her "do it yourself" stuff. I wondered what it was, but the cabinet was locked of course. During the year this was a boarding school for future plumbers, electricians, brick layers etc.

Our rooms could be locked from outside but not from inside. So we had quite a lot of funny incidents at least at the beginning.

When students came back late night blitheful and also full of beer or wine or both, it happened that they entered in the wrong room. One night a man went to the toilet (we only had showers in our rooms) and when he wanted to go back in his bed again, he found a girl already sleeping in it ! As it was already early morning he let her sleep, went to his workshop and told us the story later at breakfast.

The girl who appeared later was really very sorry and upset but we had a good laughter. Another one, who was quite big stood in his pants and shaved when suddenly the door opened a woman came in, opened her mouth without a sound and closed the door in horror ! It also happened while showering, that suddenly someone stepped in and only realized later that he was in the wrong room.

I nearly had the same incident, but recognized in time that it wasn't my door ! Fortunately it never happened to me, I had put a chair at the door right away and nobody could get in.

This beautiful bank stood outside for smokers or just to rest and take a little sunshine.

But sometimes it was used for other purposes. The campers dried their laundry on it.

Although the nights filled with music from the music students, were quite loud and agitated, there was never a bad incident. I had bought earplugs and therefore didn't hear anything. I slept very well. The last day when we all left a lot of us had deep blue rings under their eyes ! Being an artist is very hard !

SHOW & TELL - Summerschool in Libramont

More participants are here at Kelly's Show and tell Friday

This week I want to show you some pictures I made from my one week stay in an Art summer school in Libramont (Belgium). I had chosen photography courses this time, before I went there for painting.

In these little houses were our rooms. During the year it is part of the Technical school and students live in there.

We were 300 students of all kind of art workshops (see post below) and as there were not enough rooms, people built up their tent. Fortunately the weather was nice. My room was on the first floor the 3rd window from the left.

I have to admit it wasn't the Hilton, but everything necessary was in there. Even a private shower ! The only hic was we couldn't lock the door from inside, so sometimes one got a visitor in the middle of the night, because he or she mixed up the rooms. I finally put my chair at the door.

There were many buildings, this was the restaurant and on the way to my workshop class

The building, they are all dated from the 60th

Of course we also had a bar where in the evening the music students gave concerts.

The workshop class besides our class made all kind of stuff out of felt and had to dry their towels from time to time, that didn't bother a student to exercise with his trompet or what it was.

It was quite hot and some of our classmates took a little pause in the shade

This was the class where we worked on our pictures

discussing or developping films because 2 or 3 students didn't use a digital camera

This was our teacher, a very nice and friendly person, here discussing with one of my classmates. Unfortuntately I don't have more pictures of our class, I deleted them by error !

Behind the open door was our class and on the left side they did musical texts

Three of my classmates, the youngest once were only attending the course probably because of their parents ambitions, as you can see they weren't very stimulated. Instead of photo hunting they hunted boys and instead of photos they ended up with a nice sunburn !

A little pause and discussion on the grass between painters

Streakers hit Charles polo match
The streakers could be seen on the event's big screen

Three male streakers invaded the pitch being watched by the Prince of Wales during an
annual society polo event. The naked trio emerged from the grandstand during a match between England and Australia at the Cartier International event in Windsor. Naked men I have seen already, why didn't they show Charles face on the screen ?? That would have been funny at least !

PRINCESS Anne displayed her legendary thriftiness at the weekend — in a frock she first wore 27 YEARS ago at Princess Diana’s wedding.

PRINCESS Anne displayed her legendary thriftiness at the weekend — in a frock she first wore 27 YEARS ago at Princess Diana’s wedding.
The Princess Royal, 57, picked out the pretty print dress for Lady Rose Windsor’s marriage on Saturday.
And she topped if off with the veiled floral hat also seen when Di married Anne’s brother Prince Charles in 1981. I am so full of compassion ! these poor royals they never do it right. Or they spend too much or they spent not enough, it really must be a difficult life !

Ritchie says marriage is 'fine'

Guy Ritchie and Madonna married in Scotland in December 2000
Film director Guy Ritchie has brushed off speculation about his marriage to Madonna in a US magazine interview. The 39-year-old Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels director told People: "My marriage is fine as far as I'm aware of." The singer and her spokesperson have repeatedly denied reports that the couple were planning a divorce. Divorce or not divorce that is the question ! But a little publicity just before a tour can only be useful !

US man charged for shooting mower

A 56-year-old man from the Midwestern US state of Wisconsin has been arrested after shooting his lawn mower in his garden because it would not start. Police officers said Mr Walendowski had told them: "It's my lawn mower and my yard, so I can shoot it if I want." He is absolutely right. If you are allowed to buy and have guns why can't you shoot on anything ? That makes no sense. I am only allowed to shoot with a water pistol on my lawn mower !

Say goodbye to the computer mouse

The world's first computer mouse didn't make any money for its inventor. It's nearly 40 years old but one leading research company says the days of the computer mouse are numbered.
A Gartner analyst predicts the demise of the computer mouse in the next three to five years.
Taking over will be so called gestural computer mechanisms like touch screens and facial recognition devices. My cats will regret the mouse, but I am already keen to see people sitting behind their computers making grimaces to get into different programs, clapping in their hands and touching screens up and down and right and left to fill in a tax form. What a fun would I have to watch employees in public services ! Of course I would never forget my video camera when they check my forms !

FUN MONDAY

More participants at Mommy Wizdom

She proposed : If you were ruler for a day/week/month/year (your choice on the time) you would... ex...make coffee free to all citizens. Or you'd abolish the penny. You may also specify if you're ruler of the world or just your country. Have fun with it; be creative. If you like to dress up, you may also choose to take pictures of yourself in your "ruler" outfit(s) and post them up with your entry.

I think this time I can't really respect the proposition, because I just came back from a one week course in photography from the Summer Art Academy in Libramont (Belgium) and of course have my head full of all these wonderful things creative students have done. The only thing which came into my mind is to be the ruler of the magical world of .... puppets !

Below you can see one of the dormitories. This one was mine and as there was not enough rooms for all students (we were 300) some of them just put up their tents. The campus was big and surrounded by woods. The arrow shows you the location of my room and the classroom for photography.

The puppet creating course was really amazing. They used everything available like wooden spoons, corks, taps, cans etc.

The weather was wonderful so they worked outside

creating little ghosts

and all kind of puppets

So today I rule the world of puppets of which you can see more here
