WEEKEND FUNNIES - Fun with Arthur

One of our neighbors apparently got rid of some old furniture and carried it out of the house and put it on the sidewalk.

My cat Arthur found that very interesting, crossed the street and immediately jumped on a little table standing there. Phil the neighbor got a shock he hadn't seen him arriving so Arhur jumped off the table and to say hello.

Phil petted him and returned into the house followed by Arthur of course. Then he came back with carrying an old TV while Arthur turned around his legs. The poor man almost fell down the steps. He tried to kick Arthur away as gently as possible and told him to go away (I rather thought ... to hell)

Arthur suffering from bad hearing when he wants to, walked with Phil until he put down the TV, and immediately jumped on it. There he sat, watching what Phil would bring out next. It was a lamp with a string hanging down. Arthur thought what a kind man he even puts toys on the sidewalk, and started to play with the hanging string. Phil stumbled against the steps. He asked Arthur again to disappear, but Arthur wanted absolutely to help. Phil now came out with an awful looking green velvet armchair. It must have been quite heavy as the poor man was red in his face from the effort. While he put it down, Arthur jumped happily on it and found that this was a real good napping place. Phil didn't agree.

Finally I had laughed enough, and thought it was time to free poor Phil from Arthur and went over asking if Arthur didn't disturb him too much. He sighed an said, Arthur is really a very friendly and cute cat, but could I lock him in until he finishs ? I looked at Arthur who meanwhile had rolled up into a snail and pretended to sleep. Then I tried to pick him up which was quite difficult because he started to struggle but I managed to carry him over to our house.

Arthur, now really angry, tried to jump off my arms, but I was already in the garage and closed the door. He gave me a mean look stood in front of the closed door and said meauw in his deep voice just once. But then he started to sing all songs he knew and in all tone scales. I ran to the bathroom for earplugs ! until I could let him out again !

For those who don't know him, here is Arthur in the street. I didn't dare to take a picture of my neighbor with his junk !

SHOW & TELL FRIDAY

More participants here

Since a few days we have very unusual warm weather here in Belgium it's around 30°C (86 F). Normally for end of April it should be half of the temperature. But I don't complain, far from that, I feel like a fish in the water ! Maybe the heat is due to our overheated politicians who started again their language war, french or flemish and the population is so fat up of these clowns !

Of course when it is so nice outside I can't stay in my room, so I moved my "office" in our garden where I enjoy the warmth on my old bones and watch birds and butterflies.

Here is my little Blogging corner, the umbrella helps to darken so I can better see the screen.
Rosie watches over me, I don't need the heating lamp which stands behind my chair.

For Christmas I got this cat from my son which I can lighten when it becomes dark.

For me this wonderful weather could last the whole year !

THURSDAY THIRTEEN - The craziest festivals

more participants here

As in Belgium we regularly have the festival of crazy politicians, I was looking if other countries have crazy festivals too.

Here are 13 crazy festivals

1. Crying Babies Festival - Japan

Held every year, at the Sensoji Temple, in Tokyo, the baby crying festival is a 400-year-old tradition, believed to keep rug-rats in good health. Amateur sumo wrestlers hold the babies high in the air, and try to scare them into crying, while a sumo referee judges the match. The toddler who cries longest and loudest is considered the winner.

2. Naked men festival - Japan
Dating back over 1200 years, the Hadaka Matsuri festival takes place at several small-town locations throughout Japan. Its origins lie in a decree issued by Emperor Shotoko in 767, which ordered the nation to offer prayers in order to dispel a plague

3. Wife carrying festival - Finland
men carry their wives on their backs through over 250m of obstacles, including a water jump. The winner is awarded his spouse's weight in beer.

4. Wine battle festival - Spain
on horseback, the procession winds through the town to the Cliffs of Bilibio, where a mass is celebrated at the Hermitage of San Felices de Bilibio. After the mass a true free-for-all begins, with everyone tossing wine on each other until all are soaked from head to foot. There is a sea of wet, pink shirts everywhere.

5. Tomatoe festival. Spain
La Tomatina is a food fight festival held on the last Wednesday of August each year in the town of Buñol in the Valencia region of Spain. Tens of metric tons of over-ripe tomatoes are thrown in the streets in exactly one hour.

6. Baby jumping Festival, Spain
(El Colacho) is a traditional Spanish practice dating back to 1620 that takes place annually to celebrate the Catholic feast of babies in the village of Castrillo de Murcia near Burgos.[1][2][3] During the act - known as El Salto del Colacho (the devil's jump) or simply El Colacho – men dressed as the Devil (known as the Colacho) jump over babies born during the previous twelve months of the year who lie on mattresses in the street.

7. Penis festival in Japon, in honor of male fertility

8. Fishing Festival in Nigeria. Here, men can be real men by pulling the biggest fish out of the river with their bare hands, proving to the watching ladies that they, in fact, are the best catch.

9. Mud Festival, South corea. Women fight to become "Mud Queen"

10.Las Fallas festival in Spain Las Fallas literally means "the fires" The focus of the fiesta is the creation and destruction of ninots (“puppets” or “dolls”), which are huge cardboard, wood, paper-machè and plaster statues in huge fires

11.Color festival in India, throwing colored powder at people

12. Cheese Rolling Festival, UK.From the top of the hill a round of Double Gloucester cheese is rolled, and competitors race down the hill after it. The first person over the finish line at the bottom of the hill wins the cheese. In theory, competitors are aiming to catch the cheese, however it has about a one second head start and can reach speeds up to 70mph (112 km/h), enough to knock over and injure a spectator.

13. Monkey Buffet Festival, Thailand
Everyone loves a monkey but no one as much as the Thais. They create 3 tonne smorgasbord of fruit and tasty treats and they invite around 600 monkeys to run enjoy the feast while they watch

FUN MONDAY - My coffee mug

Ever since mugs moved into Belgium in the 80th, I banned all coffee cups for our daily use and replaced them by mugs which are more practical and they are also so nice, can be personalized or funny.

Last months my favorite cup, an orange one with a cute cat on it (of course) fell on the tiles and broke. For a couple of weeks I was looking for one to replace it, but as it is always, when you are looking for something special you don't find it and when you don't look at all it's suddenly there. And that happened to me last week and gave me the idea for this Fun Monday.

I found two similar mugs, one with a red and one with a blue handle. The red one is now for coffee and the blue one for tea.

and here is my coffee mug, the other one for tea hangs together with different mugs on a holder.

I can only confirm that my coffee tastes much better in my new mug !

Please note that our next Fun Monday host on May 5th is Sayre

I also wanted to suggest that Fun Monday topics should be simple, funny and easy as the name says. A lot of people hesitated to participate because the topics became too complicated and therefore Fun Monday nearly died.
