SoCS - YES WE CAN ... OR NOT ?

Yes is a tricky word ! It can bring you in the most unpleasant situations. Imagine you say yes with sparkling eyes and a happy smile on your face in front of the pastor, and 3 month later you say "yes" with a sour face to a divorce. Maybe it will last a bit long or even forever but still it is a dangerous yes and has to be thought over very carefully.

Then you have the politicians they say "Yes we can" and then after a while they realize they can't because there is the opposition which says "No" to everything which seems to be a good idea. Others promise "Yes I will make America great again", forgetting that we are not in the wild west anymore and immigrants are not welcome at all, before they needed it to win land, kill the natives and look for gold, but these times are gone. That's the same with "Yes" I am for the Brexit, forgetting that the UK is all alone without its Commonwealth and therefore there is no common wealth anymore and we all need each other.

Since I was a child I have learned that it is better to say "No" first, think the question over carefully and change your mind into "yes" if convenient. That's far better than to change a yes into a no. That doesn't sound so good.

Saying "yes", the opposite to "no" is far easier. No problems, no discussions, no fights with yes ! and the opposite of course with "no". Therefore those who want to stay always in peace with everybody and agree to everything, they should always say "yes". But please note that it can be dangerous !

FRIDAY's FAVORITE FIVE - FIVE ON FRIDAY

1.

I was still "jailed" with my limited movements due to my sprained ankle and had to stay home. Fortunately TV and Computer exists, otherwise I had to do as before, read books after books, which I like too.

2. The weather was according to my mood, grey and humid and it rained ! But I could walk a bit better so I went to buy a special support for my ankle and did a bit of window shopping but inside the shops not to get wet. Unfortunately I found nothing, I had needed something to cheer me up !

3.

As I couldn't go out, I took pictures inside the house, mostly of my cats, they are always good models. Especially when they sleep and you think they haven't moved, but suddenly the tail is on the other side. Or they run away before you had time to push the button.

4. For the first time I went out and to Nicole, there I could sit on the sofa. Her kitchen is completely finished now and looks beautiful. So beautiful that I forgot to take a picture.  We chatted the whole afternoon and Charlie as usual played the clown.

5. As always we enjoyed our painting course very much.

I have started a new painting (in the middle below) the one on the right I still have to think over if I have to add something or not. Painting and creating makes hungry so we decided to go to "our" Chinese restaurant

There was Nicole besides our teacher, then Chantal and I. Helene was half cut off. The meal as usual was delicious and for our husbands and one son we took a "take away" along, so nobody had too cook in the evening !

Remedy for depressed people

*********
WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

1. Let's all think happy thoughts...share one of yours here.
The only happy thought I have for the moment is, that I am going on holidays to the Red Sea in Egypt for two weeks on the 26th !

2. There's a Chinese proverb that says, "If you want happiness for an hour take a nap, if you want happiness for a day-go fishing...." What say you? If you want happiness for a day _____________
I certainly don't go fishing and kill poor fishes ! And a nap during the day makes me dizzy and then I am in a bad mood ! I am happy when the weather is sunny, I can go out, or just watching my cats playing, or going out for lunch with friends.

3. Where do you go to decompress from the world around you?
Behind my computer

4. What song never fails to make you happy?
No song makes me happy, not even the song "Happy"

If you want to see a "Happy" Brussels ! (made after the terrorist attacks on March 23)

But I love "The show must go on" from Freddy Mercury.  That puts me in a swinging mood when I am depressed !

5. Wednesday is National Fast Food Day. Should that be a thing? Apparently it is, so tell us what's the last 'fast food' you consumed? If you were putting together your own version of a 'happy meal' what would you include? Never heard of a National Fast Food Day, and as it is "National" I don't think we have that here. The Belgians (except the kids) are very much against fast food. I don't remember having eaten fast food except Pizzas, if these are fast food !

6. In a few sentences tell us why you blog.
I love writing and I am happy when people read what I write ! BTW this is the answer to n° 2 !!

7. List seven things you're feeling especially grateful for today.
Seven things ??? I can't even think of one !

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I wished my sprained ankle would be completely healed !

WATERLOO TENNIS

The Waterloo Tennis exists since the 70th, and during the years has become a very nice building and of course was extended. There are now 11 courts (6 indoor and 5 outdoor) in summer. It also contents a fitness room. But that's not all there are many other activities especially organized for seniors. There is the Brussels Royal Polyglot Association for people who have a good knowledge of a language and want to practise and improve. It is not a school where one learns a language, but conversation tables where people talk together in a pleasant social environment that offers, in addition, the possibility of making new friends and have a lot of fun.

Besides that, there is also a Scrabble Club and a Whist Club, where Mr. G. uses to play twice a week. There are also other activities, especially during school holidays.

From outside

The entrance

The reception

The bar

Here you can sit and have a drink and watch the players

Inside Tennis courts right and left

There is also a very nice restaurant

Prices

For the kids

You can hardly see the white bubble which contains a Tennis court for when it rains. When the sun is shining there are tennis courts in the open with  terraces for the spectators.

And last but not least the fridge for the poor, which is been filled in by whoever wants to and in the plastic boxes there are cans with soup and vegetables etc. Those who are hungry can pick up what they need.

WEEKEND REVIEW Nov 12

Last Thursday I had been visiting Ilona's mother, she is 92 lives alone and is in a better shape than others in their 40th ! I don't know exactly what I had done, but when I got up, suddenly my left foot kinked aside and I fell half on the sofa half on the carpet. Ilona picked me up, and I didn't feel anything just a little ache in my foot. So we laughed and I pretended that probably due to my advanced aged, I now loose balance. I did some shopping and then went home.

Suddenly my foot started to hurt terribly ! I looked at it and it had swollen and was all blue ! I had sprained my ankle !  Mr. G. went to the pharmacy and bought a cream against pain and bandages. I also had to take a painkiller. It was clear I couldn't walk properly anymore. So for 2 days I scampered around on one foot and sat on the sofa with my feet up.

Fortunately I had enough work on my computer which I had a little neglected lately, especially the filing of pictures. With that and television I spent my time. And the telephone of course.

Rosie stuck the whole time against my leg

and I took a lot of cat pictures for my different themes !

The weather was perfect for staying inside and don't move, because it was cold, humid and grey !

All I can say is, that it had been a very exciting weekend ! Fortunately today my foot looks OK it's not swollen and blue anymore and I can walk ! Maybe not to much, but still I am not nailed on my sofa anymore !
